Hungary, Budapest, January, 2011.
I went to shoot some pictures on a frozen, cold morning
back at home, as there was snow and all the trees were
frozen white. I live in the suburbs, there`s a lake
and a little forest, and fields near by.
So I took the car, my equipment, and
stopped on the roadside, near a swampy area.
As I got out of the car, and walked around it,
to get my cameras out, I spotted this thing
on the ground - it was weird, nearly unrecognisable,
covered with snow.
Suddenly, my heart jumped. Oh.
It was scary. And incredibly sad, as i just realized:
a dead dog lying on the ground,
covered in snow. In a posture like he was still
running around, happy, wagging his tail.
And of course, the tyre prints around him... he was
lying just on the roadside, where car could park.
he could have been run over..
frozen to death... not even a peaceful place to lie down.
How did he die? Since when he was lying there,
untouched? It has snowed a good few days before...
probably since then...
So this is to commemorate our lovely animal friend.
And to ask drivers to drive responsibly. And
to take care of the animal if they ever happen to hit one.
Or to owners not to abandon their animals, but take care of
them, find them a new home instead.
